Seemingly what happened to us was a set-up. Our trusted friend who has worked with us for many years , and his cousin took us to a Bank to change money. We changed the money in a semi-private area and of course were very careful not to show anything. About 10 minutes later as we were stopped at the lights at the Eiffel Tower lookalike, a motorbike with two guys drew up beside us. We were in a Kia microbus. The guy on the left jumped off and put the gun to the driver's head, while the other on the righthand side pointed his gun at us in the back. The sliding door catch was broken so we couldn't open from the inside. Jorge, who was in the front passenger seat jumped out and said take my money. The guy with the gun said, no - I know the women have the money. Finally we opened the door and he grabbed both our bags and again said I know you have money, you have just been to the bank. All this took less than a minute I'm sure though it's hard to say as time seems to slow way down in this situation. They then jumped on the bikes and took off. Jorge called his Aunt who is the Manager of that particular bank. At the British Embassy they informed us that this type of robbery is now becoming very common with the tip-offs from Bank employees to people waiting outside. I don't know if they found the particular employee yet, but I'd imagine it would be fairly easy as we only dealt with two people plus perhaps the security guards.
